“Changsha was formerly known as Tanzhou, with thousands of years of history. The beautiful mountains and water are breathtaking, and I played a song to tour Changsha.”As one of the oldest tunes in Hunan, ChangshaTanci carries the historical and cultural memories of the Xiangjiang River, and has been continuously inherited and innovated to bring out new vitality.
Wang Zhimin, who studied under the national non-legacy ChangshaTanci master Peng Yankun, is the youngest,“post-90s” inheritor under Peng.In order to learn Changsha dialect, Wang made many local Changsha friends while listening to the recordings. He often went to such lively places as the city center and the market, and also went to drink tea and listen to the old Changsha people chatting, thinking and pondering over their pronunciations and accents.
With the progress of the times, each generation of ChangshaTanci inheritors have made different attempts. From single player to group performances, from historical stories to things closely related to the lives of the people toculture &tourism in Hunan, Changsha Tanci is changing both in the form of performances and in the creation of content.
